Stop 7: Red Spouter

Red spouter is an interesting geothermal feature in Yellowstone because, depending on the time of year, it can be a fumarole, hot spring, or mud pot.

This picture above shows how during the spring when there is more groundwater, it is a bubbling, muddy pool.




In the fall and winter when the water table is lower, Red Spouter is a fumarole
that emits steam and hisses, shown in this picture to the right.
